Ah, hello. I noticed that you were still on the network. It has been a while, I'm not sure if you remember me--we met when we were on the islands, on the beach. I wasn't too welcoming, but we had a nice conversation and walked together.
I, ah, wanted to see how you were? Are you adjusting to this cold? Do you need anything?
[Oh, well, this is a surprise. Poison doesn't believe she's made enough of an impression on anybody to illicit unexpected messages, but maybe she's been making more of a mark than she thought.
She fiddles with the phone for a few minutes before she answers, giving serious consideration to not replying at all.]
I remember. The cold isn't so bad. [Really, she was expecting death-inducing temperatures, not a slight chill.] The cats are liking it less than I am.
[A beat. Poison's tone isn't unwelcoming, but more than she isn't sure of what to say next.]
I'm fine. Adjusting to the cold is...difficult for me. The Island was mostly my personal limit, so while I have no choice, it's rather unpleasant for me.
[He hesitates, knowing that this was rather abrupt. There's something about the cold that makes Ianchus feel lonelier, and that makes him want to reach out...and that girl did leave an impression on him.]
I apologize for the sudden contact. It's a little awkward, ah? [Not awkward for him, of course, but there are many things Ianchus doesn't consider awkward.]
A little. [She isn't used to it. There's a lot she's having to get used to all over again, and forging connections with others feels so futile when they could be taken away easily the next day, or the next hour. It feels less urgent here, too, when she doesn't need to have a network just to survive.
But Ianchus is... fine. He seemed nice enough. It's fine.]
We're all just going to have to get used to it. Find ways to cope. It looked like you already had an idea about that.
